PRE-DIVE-MASTERY: Nina Raem gibt Instruktionen beim Mentalen Training, Teil 2 des Trainingprogramms zur Vorbereitung auf Tauchgänge

PRE-DIVE-MASTERY Part II: Mental Training in Freediving

Mental strength, just like relaxation, plays an important role in freediving. Both can support us in preparing for a dive and consciously dealing with the different situations we may encounter underwater. The first part of PRE-DIVE-MASTERY focuses on relaxation in freediving, using specific practices from yoga. The second part now focuses on mental training in freediving.

Who is this booklet for?

This booklet is aimed at freedivers who want to approach their mental preparation more consciously and specifically train their mental strength. It does not matter whether you have only recently started freediving or have been diving for some time. Mental training can be used at different levels and in different areas of your own practice.

My Intention

With this second part of PRE-DIVE-MASTERY, I want to provide a practical approach to mental training in freediving. For me, mental training does not need to be complicated or performance-oriented. Rather, it is about becoming more aware of our own mental preparation and exploring ways to actively shape it.

My Hypothesis

I assume that mental strength can be trained. Just as we develop physical abilities through regular training, we can also practise and develop our mental preparation. The more consciously we engage with our thoughts, mental images and internal responses, the more familiar certain situations can become — even before we encounter them in the water.

What can you expect from the booklet “Mental Training in Freediving”?

In this booklet, I introduce three methods of mental training:

1.) Visualisation, 2.) Imagination and 3.) Affirmation

You will find basic definitions and exercises for each method. The exercises are intended as practical tools that you can try out and further develop according to your own freediving practice.
